IMAP 's Data Standards working group completes Phase 2 Formalising reporting specifications for FUM and Flow.

Robert Corben provides the latest update on the IMAP Data Standards Working Group, including the work being done to formalise reporting specifications.

Background

Since November 2017, the IMAP Data Standards Group has been working to deliver efficiencies  and having completed Phase 1 " an industry agreed data standard for the transmission of Model Portfolio data between industry participants" has now completed Phase 2 "FUM and NET FLOW reporting data standards

Management reporting standards are very important, because this area of operations has been problematic.

Many industry participants report they have to spend considerable time converting the reporting they get from different platforms and managers, in order to build aggregated management reporting they can use to run their businesses and make important business decisions.

In February 2020, the working group formalised a draft ‘FUM’ and ‘NET FLOW’ reporting specification.

The standards cover delivery of the reporting, file type support, as well as more than 14 report attributes surveyed to be common amongst most issuers. It’s our hope that, moving forward, the standard will be adopted as a baseline standard for broader reports.
